So Solar City is now owned by Tesla, and I didnt not sign the original agreement for the solar panel installation. I bought the home post installation and I did not read the contract well. BIG mistake. Worst contract I have EVER signed. I would NEVER recommend seeking out a solar panel installation from Solar City or Tesla EVERRRR

We have had Solar City solar panels on our roof for the last two years. If you want an invitation for the pigeons in the neighborhood to have a new home, call (Solar City). They will not work with us to put critter guards around the panels to keep the wildlife from living underneath them. They want to charge us $2200 at our expense, when the H away clearly states they need to be installed with the installation of the panels. I would not use (Solar City) if given a second chance. Theres lots of options for Solar . Make sure you do not choose (Solar City) for yours.

Love my Solar City experience and have 8K saved up in my Excel Energy Bank. Using any other company will cost you more in the future! If my roof needs replaced, It will only cost me $500 for complete panel removal and reinstall. People with other companies were quoted $500 per panel. And their insurance doesnt pay for it. I cant say enough good things about Solar City and dont know how any other company could do a better job or have a better contract. Tesla Power Wall is the next purchase!!

I've had Solar City Panels for about 2 years now. I've referred their services to multiple friends/family and now I will no longer do so. I was finally getting my first 'referral check' from them and all I've gotten is the run-around. From what they have said, a check was sent out 2 months ago - which I never received. Now I've attempted to contact them multiple times to figure out what can be done to re-send a check. It's been a month since my initial phone call and there still has been NO resolution. It shouldn't be this difficult to pry away $200 of an earned referral fee from a multi-billion dollar company. After all the time I've wasted making phone calls and sitting on hold with them a measly $200 is like a slap in the face. You'll never get another referral from me Solar City!

I'm not sure where else to post a review for Solar City, so I'm posting it for this office which is closest to my house. We purchased an existing home in August of 2015 that had a Solar City installation. Since then, Solar City's business practices have been frustrating at best and downright anti-consumer at worst. The previous owner had established level-billing on the property which means that the monthly bill should be the same each month without regard to monthly fluctuations in power generation. We were repeatedly told by numerous reps that this was 'impossible' and not something that Solar City offered. The previous owner went so far as to show us a full year of bills which were indeed the same amount (to the penny) each month which suggested that Solar City was either lying or sorely mistaken on what billing options they actually offer. The transfer of services was a nightmare. We were told multiple times that we simply needed to provide a copy of the warranty deed showing transfer of the property to get the service placed into our name. Once we actually purchased the home, Solar City informed us that we'd need to get the previous owners to sign something to allow us to assume the service. This wouldn't have been a big deal prior to closing on the house, but after closing it was difficult to track down the previous owners to get them to sign the required document. During this period, we were unable to log into Solar City's online billing portal since all services were still in the previous owner's name. In order to pay the ongoing charges, our only option was to pay Solar City by phoning in our payments which they charged us $15 each month to do.Once the online portal was transferred into my name and I gained the ability to log in, I immediately went to add my autopay details. I noted that I was able to see the previous owner's Bank and last four digits of his bank account because Solar City hadn't thought to purge his private bank details. I once again called Solar City to advise of this, and they brushed me off saying 'just delete it'. Once again, they managed to put the onus of fixing their mistake on the customer. I followed their advice and deleted his details and added mine. My most recent interaction with them occurred this evening. I received a 'past-due' bill even though they autodraft it regularly every month. The billed amount I received is some odd amount (roughly half of my normal bill) which makes no sense given that I'm on their level-billing plan. Furthermore, I never received any type of notice (email, online through their portal, or physical bill) until now showing that the additional amount is due. I called their billing department to question the charge, and was told that they too couldn't support the extra charge. To top things off, they showed a different amount than their bill indicated was due. I was told the only option to correct this was to cancel my autopay so that it wouldn't attempt to draft the 'past-due' amount with my normal payment. I explained that this wasn't an attractive option, as I'd once again be subjected to their ridiculous $15 per payment extra charge. The rep told me that I could just make a manual payment online. I simply don't have this option available in their online portal and advised the rep of this. She said that it was because my account is 'still being transferred' from the previous owner. I have now owned this home for 16 months, so their turn time leaves something to be desired. I ended up escalating to a manager who couldn't explain the mystery bill any better. I had to ask for a provisional credit in the amount of the 'past-due' amount to avoid having to cancel my autopay. In summation, I'd recommend looking elsewhere for solar. I certainly would if I had any option to do so at all. Their transfer, customer service, and billing departments will make you believe that you're receiving some type of privilege to simply give them money every month.
