In the fall of 2017, after years of what we considered brutal and escalating power bills, my wife and I decided to get serious about an alternative energy source for our home. Since we live in the Antelope Valley, temperatures can get really hot during summer months and pretty cold in winter. It is this combination of weather extremes that can wreak havoc on the most well managed energy budget. We were leaning toward trying solar power but were intimidated by our lack of knowledge about this technology. After doing our own preliminary research, we decided to invite various solar companies to our home not only for the purpose of finding out about their products but also to answer the myriad of questions we had compiled.As the representatives from the various companies visited our home, we begin to find that many were too sales intensive and more concerned with pushing their products and the financing options that were most beneficial to their companies, than the correct product for our energy needs and financing options that were best for us. Many were long on company talking points, sales pitches and industry rhetoric, but short on answers to the questions that were important to us. We were beginning to grow quite frustrated from what we began to see as a trend of industry double speak and misinformation. Then we decided to invite just one more company and this is when we met Ric Vega.The very first thing we noticed about Ric was how very knowledgeable, informative and attentive to our needs he was. He demonstrated a willingness not only to fully answer our questions, but to research and get answers to questions that he may not have been 100% sure of the answers. To me this is the true mark of an individual who is not willing to pass off just any response as an answer to your question. In addition, he spent time with us. He never made us feel that we were just another potential account with which he could only spend a small amount of time in order to rush out of the door to see other potential accounts. He paid us multiple visits and each time stayed until we were comfortable that we were knowledgeable about solar power for our home and the entire process of converting energy from the sun and metering it both to our home as well as to an alternate power grid. He provided us with the pros and cons of solar power, as well as a cost benefit analysis. He even went through the process with us of deciding the number of panels to meet our energy needs, the array configuration of those panels as well as the roof positioning to preserve the esthetics of our home. Most of all throughout the entire process he never once pressured us. We approached each phase prior to and including signing a contract at our own pace, feeling perfectly confident that we were knowledgeable of the prior step we had just completed.Today we are happy that we decided to avail ourselves of the benefits of going solar. Already we are seeing a 30% decrease in our energy bill and receiving invoices from our local utility containing negative or credit balances. We feel like this is all because we met the right person, someone who guided us through making the right decisions for our particular energy needs. For lack of a better word, I was duped by salesman who delivered an inferior product with damage to our home which took over a year to fix. Ric stepped in and it was through his profound knowledge that I was able to find a solution to our solar woes. We have always wanted to go solar, but dreaded the hard-sell, home-improvement sales pitch. Then we met Ric. Ric Vega doesn't 'sell' you a solar system. He provides clear information about solar systems--the pluses and the minuses. He answered all of our questions about the hardware, costs, taxes, and want all to expect. With objective information, the system sold itself. He understood our concerns about the aesthetics and made sure they were addressed. It was clear we needed a new roof. He made sure we got competitive quotes and, at my request, rolled it into the solar contract to be sure there was single-point responsibility. Ric was there every step of the way. Our electric meter is now spinning in reverse during the day. Edison bill went from $170 to $11, and we got a 30% income tax CREDIT.

'DON'T GO SOLAR UNTIL YOU TALK TO RIC. Seriously. Or you will be like some of my friends who were not impressed with results. Well, I found out why. Those that were not impressed had a system installed that is under-producing. Why? Because a salesman presented solar solution not based on the customer's needs so the customer sees a price that is affordable in comparison to what he is paying the power company, has it installed and finds out that the system does very little for him. A popular super big company tried doing that to me. Yes, I as was excited and looked forward to getting the system until I came upon Ric. And what made my blood boil, was that Ric's proposal was almost identical in price as the other company. Also, the equipment I get is well known North American manufactured panels. His advice is clear and honest. Don't be surprised if you feel like Ric is holding your hand through each phase of the installation. He promptly returns your calls. What more can I ask for?

My solar consultant, Ric, most definitely had an impact in my consideration of a PV system. He answered all of my questions and concerns in-person, phone, email and text. I really appreciate that he made himself available round the clock. That is a lost art and not many of them will provide that level of service anymore. His knowledge of the process and the system provided me all I needed to make the decision to go solar.
