This review reflects our experience with Sunrun thus far:We signed a PPA contract with them January 8th (as I'm writing this, it is April 5). Sunrun then contracted Fluent Solar for installation. Our solar panels are STILL not running because Sunrun/Fluent sent incorrect information to our electric company and has still not bothered to correct them over all this time. Therefore, we have not received permission to operate. For a company that claims to want to save customers money as well as save the environment, they sure seem not to care after you have signed the contract. As mentioned, we had a few issues with Fluent Solar and it seems as though Sunrun is limited in their ability to oversee the installation process. We have expressed our concerns regarding the time it has taken to get our solar up and running. They have let us know that it's pretty much out of their control, which is a little alarming considering we put our trust in Sunrun to get the job done thoroughly and in a timely matter. Besides the issues we've had with Fluent, we are having one more issue with Sunrun. Their salesperson, Markus Gold, talked to us about the ease of obtaining solar panels with a PPA. He mentioned how Sunrun was one of the few companies that covered any kind of damage and specifically mentioned damage caused by golf balls. Ironically enough, Sunrun made it clear that they do not cover this kind of damage. I bring this up because I feel as though Sunrun also does not have oversight over what's being said when obtaining new business. In the last week, we noticed pigeons making a nest underneath the solar panels (an issue we've never had before - which could also attract unwanted pests INTO our home.) When we contacted Sunrun they mentioned that removal was our responsibility and suggested purchasing a critter guard (priced at about $775). Via phone call, Sunrun made it clear that any damage caused to the panels by the pigeons or rodents making their way up to the nests would be the homeowner's responsibility. When we brought up what Markus had told us during our initial meeting, they directed us to contact him to figure it out.It seems to me as though this company should do a better job of protecting its investment as they are the owners of the solar panels, rather than attempting to deceptively pass the cost off to the homeowner. I am hopeful that in the upcoming days we are able to find a solution that protects our home and their solar panels without coming out of pocket for a critter guard. After all, we made a 25 year commitment to them. I will update this review as necessary.

Sunrun is a terrible business.  I used them because of their relationship with Costco.  The Costco rebates made it even harder to compare prices with other vendors.  Sunrun stinks at every step of the way from sales to maintaining their systems.  Their salesman's pitch seemed pressured and very confusing.  They were late on installation on several occasions and I'm truly dissatisfied by the final product.  Living in the California hills with red flag conditions has me concerned.  I may loose power from PGE but I can't trust my battery back up system.  There are neighbors on the local listserve that have similar systems and their systems didn't work when PGE cut power.  PGE had power back on before Sunrun could repair.  I wanted to test my back up system and was informed by their tech that it can't be tested.   In fact I found out that the sales contract doesn't guarantee that the back up system will work at all.   The bottom line is I paid top dollar for installation by business that doesn't support it's customers. You've been warned.

Sunruns leadership is principled, intelligent and forward thinking. Incredible company to work for providing a product and service that might just help to turn back the clock on global warming. Ultimately, thats up to the consumer.
