Custom Solar

We used Custom Solar for removal and replacement of solar panels in June 2020 in order to complete a roof repair. The team offered a competitive bid, helped diagnose and resolve a system error, communicated frequently with me and the various parties to coordinate scheduling, professionally handled the removal and replacement, and kept the property clean throughout. I was impressed by the work crew as they worked long hours on hot days, yet maintained positive attitudes and friendly demeanors. Overall, I'd recommend Custom Solar for any solar project!

We worked with Custom Solar five years ago while our house was undergoing a major renovation. They produced a clean design, and gave us a couple of options to choose from. They were very willing to work with our sub contractors, and meet our crazy schedule, even on short notice. Once we moved in we were super happy with the system. Unfortunately, within a year, our inverter was showing an error message, and the panels stopped producing. Custom sent out service people to get it running again. Whatever they did, it would fix the system for a couple of months, and then the system would go down again. I would call again, they would send technicians, and the story would repeat... This went on for a long time. They were super patient, and never charged us. Finally about three months ago, we called them out again, and this time they had some new information about the panels: there was a replacement part available for our SunPower panels. SunPower would pay for the Tigo's and Custom's time onsite. I still don't know what a Tigo is, but now that they have been replaced, the system is producing beautifully! Custom was patient and responsive and found a solution to the problem. I would totally recommend them to a friend. They are a pleasure to work with.

I used Custom Solar a few years back to have solar panels installed on the roof of our house in Lyons and was very pleased with how everything turned out. Recently, I needed to have the wire conduit and solar box relocated to a new location for some construction / remodeling work we are going to have done. The two gentlemen who came to do the work were polite, friendly, and knowledgeable and got everything set up exactly where I wanted it. Very happy with the company.

I am a project manager for a local roofing company. My client needs their roof replaced and custom solar did the original installation of the solar panels. My client wanted to use their services to remove and replace the panels for the project so as to not void the existing warranty.So far I have only been able to contact the front desk person to try to reach the project manager Jessie or their boss Kay. I have left at least 5 messages and have not received a return call yet. This has been going on for over one month. Their website lists only one generic email address and phone number to contact the company. I was not allowed to have a direct contact for either Jessie or Kay. Through my own research I have determined that the owner is Willie Mein. Willie, if you are out there, please talk to Chris at the front desk to get my phone number and please give me a call. Your client needs to know what is going on and we need to be able to put this project on our schedule.It is baffling to me how this company is still in business. I have worked with many local solar companies with no issues of this sort ever. I am greatly concerned about the viability of working with this company!

Perhaps the sloppiest, laziest, most disinterested pre-sales process I've ever had the unfortunate experience of being involved in.First proposal I received: a copy of the energy consumption spreadsheet which I had sent them to begin the process.Second proposal: a PDF showing bunch of panels on a house half a block away.Third proposal: literally exactly the same PDF, but with a Google Maps satellite image of my house pasted in.Unreal.
