EcoMark Solar - Fort Collins Office

Note: This review is focused on EcoMark's roof installation services. We also had EcoMark install solar at our home (a bundle package) and are very happy with the outcome and had a great experience with that team. We would recommend EcoMark for solar, but not roof installation.Starting in September, we have engaged in a frustrating back and forth about getting our roof install scheduled (after signing on to EcoMark in July). We left multiple messages and texts that were either never responded to, or only received a follow up after calling the main office line (often talking with folks on the solar side), which revealed a seeming high level of confusion within their operation on the roof install scheduling. We understand supply changes/materials shipping delays occur, requiring schedules to adjust, and that at the time, there was high demand for solar install before the end of the calendar year for tax credit purposes, but at a minimum, we would expect a level of professionalism with open, consistent communication - this did not occur. We were given next to no notice when the crew was coming to do the roof install - we have two large dogs that have consistent access to the backyard. If we didn't happen to be at home when the roofers showed up, I'm not sure what the crew would have done. Moreover, trash was not properly removed - we had to pick up an extensive amount of trash in our yard and our neighbors' yards. We are also still finding roofing nails and roofing trash in the backyard, which poses a hazard to our dogs. A sizable amount of leftover roofing materials were left in our front yard for over a week (again, there was another level of confusion on EcoMark's end regarding removal). We experienced another extensive and frustrating back and forth to get additional contractors out to touch up the paint on our siding that was damaged by the roofers and fix the poorly installed shingles on the south and west side of the house (see pics). Even after the second contractor came out to fix the shingles, we are still finding problems (see pics). The last two photos were taken after the second contractor came to fix the poorly installed shingles from the original installation. We also found strips of nails in our front yard where our 13 month old daughter plays (see pics).

I have now has solar for 3 years and regret it more each year. for 1) the cost of the panels is insane and not worth the amount it saves each month. for 2) They use Mosaic for financing which has been awful. For 3) when I bought the panels, i knew i was taking out a loan to do so but i was not told that the loan would also be putting a lean on my house making it a pain in the butt when it came time to refinance. 4) when I first got the loan, i was told i should expect a tax rebate of close to 4k and that if I put that towards my loan/pay it down to the 'target balance' within a year, my payments would not go up. The tax rebate only came out to be about $900 and obviously I missed my 'target balance' because of it. I asked for an extension before the payments went up and was denied. in general. don't waste your money or time. wait for green energy to become more affordable.

Great experience! EcoMark reps explained the options, financial benefits, and operation in a no-pressure, easy to understand way. Project manager was on top of scheduling and taking care of everything with virtually no oversight on my part needed. Highly recommend!

The process of going solar went very smooth and everybody answered all our questions, which led to more information from them, proving to be very helpful.
