Black Hills Energy (Employee Access Only)

As a comercial customer trying to terminate service Black hills required my federal tax ID number. I understand the need for security to establish credit for a new account. I sold the property and could not terminate service without Federal ID number again I don't carry this number in my pocket and fail to see the need to stop service. They provided no OPTIONS to accomplish this request. I could provide billing information, drivers license number, property information, account number, billing address, phone number, credit card info, check numbers!!!! When the tenant moved out due to bankruptcy they sure didn't have a problem terminating service without phone calls, emails, snail mail, in the middle of winter. If i hadn't been in the property the next day we would have had frozen pipes broken toilets and the likes. I live two hundred miles away pure luck I was there. Black hills needs to be more flexible in accomplishing SIMPLE task there is always more than one way to skin a cat not with them it's there way or the hi-way to that mentality I say $%&*((&%@.

These people are ridiculous. They have 0 customer service skills. If I didn't have to use them I wouldn't.

BHE is more lacking in basic customer service than any utility I've ever dealt with. E.g., after attempting for months to get some support in connection with their online bill-pay and account management services I can't even get a response to an email inquiring why, when they send billing emails to my email address, their online system refuses to recognize that address when I attempt to log in. I've never had to try so hard to give someone money in my life.

Got a call from a debt collector today. Two years after paying my final bill to Black Hills Energy I got a call about owing $14. I have never had 1 single notice about a left over payment. I refuse to use three service from this company every again in the future.
