I would give zero stars if I could. I had PE as my electric provider in 2013/2014. I paid my bill every month. I was pregnant the entire time I lived at the home and wanted to make sure I kept bills as tight as possible. Never once did I miss a payment.. maybe a couple days late if so. I never had a huge balance. The account was in my landlords name, he never questioned and saw it was paid every month. Between June of 2013 and February 2014, payments were always made. February, in the middle of one of the COLDEST winters I got a bill for $1300. I had just had a baby and thought there was NO WAY we were using that much heat (we had oil for that).... When I called it turned out they were underestimating our usage (who's fault is that?????????) They didn't send out anyone to read the meter for nearly 9 months... They then told me there was no payment plan option, I had to pay the amount.... Basically writing it off as my own fault. Because of this- I had to get the account into my name, they charged my account $400 deposit...Making my total $1700.. Even after I moved and closed m account, I wasn't given any options for a payment plan. Even with the account not being active, they refused to remove the deposit amount.. Stating I had to pay it in full (the entire amount) or I could pay it in two $900 payments and I would be issued a refund after a certain amount of days. Its been in collections for 6 years now. And it'll sit there until I die. This is a terrible ran company, customer service is disgusting.

I have been with them for 2 years now and always had a good experience. They've restored my power quickly when a tree has fallen or anytime there has been an outage. If you pay your bill you should not have any problems. They're rates are lower than any competitors. They do estimate the bill every other month FYI. They have the option to send in the reading so you're billed correctly. If you know had a very hot or very cold month, READ THE LAST BILL and it will tell you on how and when to send in the next meter reading. It takes less than 5 minutes...

They turned off electricity with no warning on a 90 degree day for four hours. When I called they said it wasnt scheduled even though I saw them a week earlier looking at the site. The customer service phone line provide zero information on timeline and was not friendly.

I'm pretty shocked that such a financially abusive company toward customers is still in business and not shut down despite all the negative reviews that its customers post on different media platforms about it.I would like to get my funds that you're holding as a security back. You shouldn't be overestimating people's electricity consumption and making it hard on them to pay with higher than what their bills should be exactly.  It is not a customer's job to do the meter reading for Potomac Edison or any other company for that matter, I'm NOT your employee and with all the high bills that you charge people you should be able to have proper staff for meter reading. I was a customer of PepCo for almost 2 decades and they never asked customers to provide meter readings; this is just an excuse for Potomac Edison to make money off of families who have no choice but to use them because of lack of competition. I have contacted a lawyer and will find ways to have people sign a petition against Potomac Edison. Sick and tired of this abuse of monopoly!
