Still waiting for repairs on my Solar Panels. Its been almost a year now. Every time I check on the status, the parts are not available.

Solar City makes big promises of rebates , credits so their solar panels don't seem like a the extremely high cost that they really are. Run check other companies, we have been fighting with them for three years to get the paper work for these so called energy credits to no avail. Very disappointed.

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. I have to call every month to pay my bill because there isn't a way to pay otherwise. Every time I call it takes forever for somebody to answer. If I leave a message for them to call back so I can pay my bill I am already back to work so I can never answer. In the past they could never get my balance correct and it took them forever to figure out how much I owed. That part has been better the last few times I've paid. I've complained several times about this and nothing has ever been done.

Great sales experience, less than ideal installation experience.... We decided to go with Solar City because they have the 'no money down' solar program. Our sales guy was awesome- he checked in regularly and kept us informed throughout the process. They handled all the permits with the city, the power company applications, the state rebate application, and the 3rd party financing application. For the first couple months, I was VERY impressed with the level of service. Unfortunately, things went downhill with the scheduling of the installation. Although the guys were friendly and hard-working and seemed to do good quality work, their reliability and punctuality left something to be desired. The first day, I was told they would arrive between 12-2 and most likely finish the same day. One of the crew members called me at 1 pm and said they'd be there are 2 pm. That would have been fine except that they showed up at 3 pm. They apologized, but they should have let me know know they'd be an hour late. I had a work-related errand I had to take care of that afternoon, but I had to wait for them to arrive before I could go take care of it. If I'd known they would be that late, I could have done it earlier. Because of the late start, they had to schedule another day to finish the install. I wasn't able to get a morning appointment the following week so we scheduled for 12-2 again (against my better judgement). That day, I left the house at 9 am with a morning full of appointments and errands so that I could be back at noon for them. When I came home at noon, I learned that they'd come while I was out. They'd called at 9:30 to ask if they could come earlier, but I was already gone. They came to the house anyway, but because I wasn't home, they couldn't access the garage and had to arrange to come back a third time. I was told they would come at 11 am the next day. At 11 am, I got a call that they were about 40 min away and on their way. The whole crew ended up arriving at about 12:20, at which point the head guy admonished me for not being available the day before when they showed up 2.5 hours before our appointment. 'We could have finished yesterday,' he said. Wow.We ended up needing 3 appointments for them to complete the work and they didn't come at the appointed time any one of those times.Needless to say, this did not leave me feeling like I was valued as a customer who just gave them a $17,000 job or that my time was respected. Like I said before, they seem like hard-working guys and most of them were very nice, but the appointment management is in dire need of a better system because operating like this leads to unhappy customers. Or maybe management is over-booking the crews? Either way, there is room for improvement.Contractors wonder why people complain about them. It's really not that hard to make customers happy if you're a contractor:1- do the agreed-upon work2- do a good job3- show up within 15 minutes of when you say you're going to show up 2 out of 3 isn't enough for a 5-star rating.SUGGESTION: I would still recommend Solar City, but if I had it to do over, I would only accept morning appointments because whoever is first on the books is the one whose job takes priority.(I can't say anything about the actual system yet. I will update this review once it's operational.)---------UPDATE: System has been in place for about 6 months and it's working great. We made so much electricity over the summer that we haven't had to pay for electricity yet this winter.Overall, I would recommend Solar City for solar panels. Except for the install, the process was easy and the cost (after tax rebates) is only going to be around 5K, which we'll pay on instead of the electric bill until it's paid off, so no extra money out of our pockets. The one thing I would still suggest is make sure when you schedule you install, get the first morning appointment so you are their top priority for the day.
