Let's start with I was never notified that if you cancel after 2 weeks that you are responsible for a chunk of what you were going to pay. For 6 months now I have been hearing nothing but we will call you back with a date, crew is out with covid, your start dates the 1st week of the New Year yet I have not received 1 email 1 phone call or any notification of an actual date all they are doing is dragging me through the dirt and I am already paying out of my pocket for something that I had don't have because they do not issue the check from the "government" until after it's installed So until they do that it's out of your pocket and that i was not notified of either. At this point I am confident that I am paying for something that I will never actually get installed I do not recommend this company steer clear of them whatever you can they will fuck you.

Steer away from these folks, they will lie, cheat and charm you into a useless $40K investment, and then vanish like a typical thief and con artist. Solar Panels have been installed for over 10 Months now. We literally have saved 0 dollars. Company keeps ignoring our attempts at communication. Their initial response to our claim is that the system is fine, the blame is on our HOA for forcing us to place the Solar Panels in the rear. If you knew this was the issue then why would you sell us $40K worth Solar System that wasn't going to bring us any benefit? Getting a response like this tells me that you knew this prior, but kept your mouth shut to make sure you collect. Encase they think to reply to this review and say that it's due to the HOA of making us move the panels to the rear during installation, why didn't you guys check with the HOA before installing the system? And Please don't say its not your responsibility, it is indeed your responsibility since you are the contractor just as it is your responsibility to get permits from the county. Not only that, your salesman was made aware of the HOA, but ignored it and said oh don't worry, the HOA does not get involved in things installed on the roof, they are only concerned about things on ground level! Needless to say, the company is ignoring us which is not surprising. I have given them a final notice as recommended by my attorney. Next step is litigation. We really don't mind spending every bit of the $40K in attorney fees to get justice as we are financially capable, but I feel for those who ended up with a similar situation and don't have the financial capability. Litigation is not cheap unfortunately; but we've been in these situations in the past with other crooks and we know how to deal with them. We are past the money aspect, its a matter of principal now.

My experience with the Design 1 group so far has been a good one. There are only a couple things that have kept it from be 5 stars. One is that it is a pretty hard sell upfront if your mind is not leaning toward buying you may want to do some research before the salesman arrives at your house for your own piece of mind. I normally like to research before committing to something this big. I ended up trusting the salesman that came to my home that his estimates of the system I had install will pan out. My system has only been installed for a couple of weeks so time will tell if I made the right decision. The plumping contractor that installed my hot water heater left trash and cut pipping under my house but the install itself had no issues and the last small negative was there where a little slow in responding when leaving voicemails but not ridiculous . The good!!! The contractor they used for my insulation and attic work where friendly and informative arrived when they where scheduled and completed there task with out us hardly knowing that they where here. The Electrical contractor was also very informative and professional, Answered all of my ten thousand questions with a smile. One of my panels glass had been smashed in shipping they explained that it will preform as good as the others but would order me a new panel and come back in a week and replace it as soon as a new one comes in they where back the next week replaced the panel. One minor cosmetic thing I didnt like was a 4 by 4 by 4 in gray box installed in my bedroom above my electric panel. Once the install was complete they had a Quality Control person come to my house and insure that we where satisfied with the install and the overall experience. I had a couple more questions that he couldn't answer but was giving a direct phone number to someone in the company that could. I called when he left didn't get a voice mail but a human being and got all my questions answered. I would definitely recommend this company to my friends and family with the only thing that would change that is if my savings and electric bill isnt in the ballpark of what I was told they should be.
