There is a great visitor center with an amazing view!! I travel here at least once a year for the stunning views and awesome adventures me and my family have.

Though I don't necessarily agree with the politics of the place- especially putting roads through pristine shrub steppe and grazing it (with both exotic elk and cattle) after we already produce plenty of power from nearby hydroelectric dams- but it is a nice place to visit and what's done is done. The road through the shrub-steppe to the visitor's center is paved, and you can take a tour, hike or just check out the center and view from the ridge. Most of this area was extremely inaccessible historically, with bad roads, so that is the one good thing about it, but please don't drop a cigarette butt out the window while visiting and leave your weed seeds at home! Late April to mid May are the best times to view the wildflowers.
