I hired Eland to install a solar system, and they did a great job. Were very timely, friendly, and good at answering all my questions. The billed price matched what they quoted as well. Would highly recommend.

Workmanship is fine. But they don't keep their price quotes. Always add extra on bill.

We played email and phone tag for a while. And than waited a week for the manager to get back to me because was out of town.

This is the fourth time we have used Eland and each time they consistently over bill.  With each project we ask for a paper or electronic quote and are continually denied by each technician and the main office with comments like 'We don't do those.  That takes too much work.  We'd have to charge you more if we did that.'  They quote us a price we feel is reasonable, we have them in to do the work, and then are billed anywhere from 20-100+% more than what was quoted.  When we contact them to refute the billing, we are always told 'It is what it is.  Take it or leave it.  Do you really want us to send you to collections for this?'  Because they perform quality work, we decided to just take it on the smaller bills that went up anywhere from $65 - $278 over quote.  However, with this last job they quoted us 'about $600' to install a lantern in our backyard and then billed us $1,626.48.  That is more than a $1,000 increase with no previous discussions of cost increases.  Furthermore, we were quite clear with EACH technician that they sent out, that were the costs to exceed this, they first needed to notify us and gain our permission to proceed before doing so.  They gave us a small window of time to rip out an entire flower bed and haul the lantern to our home, and after we rushed to do so, did not return repeated calls to schedule the install for more than six weeks.  They sent multiple techs each time, (rarely the same ones) between the quote and install processes, and never passed on the proper information, meaning that each time, the tech(s) had to leave the house multiple times to go back and get the materials they were supposed to have onsite in the first place.  (The tech that arrived the first day showed us his phone in which it stated he was dispatched to 'install a light', not trench for installation of an existing fixture, added a sonotube for cement installation by owners. add an IR sensor, add an outlet, etc.) They also stopped to take several calls (anywhere from 5-20 minutes) while onsite and once left to 'run over to another job'.  Yet we were billed for all of their 'time' each day, which totaled more than 19 hours between spread between multiple technicians, bringing our labor bill to more than $1,400 alone.  And we did large sections of this work ourselves, including tearing out the landscaping, installing the sonotube, installing the cement, hauling and positioning the lantern, etc.  They refuse to return calls to book business, let alone address issues in a timely fashion.
