Beautiful little spot to take your paddle board. Park on the street near the water and take a quick 100m hike through the woods...bam, an uncrowded beach on even the busiest of days. I understand tours are available of the actual observatory, but due to C-19 they were not offered during our trip. If you have a kayak or paddle board, the walk is very manageable and worth it to get away from the crowds and paddle around the observatory and the man-made peninsula (Jeti? That thing Free Willy jumped over to escape at the end?). I'm sure if you're a nerd like me you'll enjoy a tour of the facility when it reopens. But for now, put on some sunscreen and check it out from the water.

A very impressive scientific place. Loved the tour. Need to reserve 2 months ahead. They can point instruments directly into the sun. Light goes through 9 mirrors before evaluated. We learned a lot as did our 5 grandchildren. Just plan ahead and do it.
